First of all, as a fellow Chicagoan, who faithfully watched that Game 7 in Doha, Qatar streaming on my headphones in the heat of the Middle East yelling and cheering to myself while locals glared, I share in your joy with a hearty “Go, Cubs, Go!”
It sure was! We finally snagged World Series shirts at the Aurora outlet mall one year later while visiting the States 😂. We wear them with pride now (except the baby onesies ... my oldest Hudson is already 5 😭). But this summer my twins will fit in it for a season, taking turns celebrating the Cubbies! Raise ‘em right 😉
This is perfect, everything about it. I am also married to a baseball fan and this struck a chord with me. ♥️ I’m going to be carrying that “team” metaphor with me this month in my marriage ...it can be easy to forget sometimes.
So good, Rachel. 💛 My husband and I fell in love at a football game. And I can’t help but think that as much as I love still cheering for “our” team, that it’s always been more than just a game. 🥰
This essay is every bit as good as I knew it would be! I’ve looked forward to reading it ever since the LAB winners were announced. Rachel, your words are a pleasure to read. Cheering you on in your writing and in your marriage! CUTIES! (I became a Chicago Bears fan quickly after meeting Andy!)
Rachel!! Gotta re-do my mascara now. Girl, this is 🔥
THANK YOU!! 🥰 You always says the kindest words.

This was delightful and fun. And I’m so glad I’m not wearing any mascara at the moment because of the tears. ❤️
Thank you Alyssa. ❤️
