Loved this essay, Molly! As a relational scorekeeper(🫣) married to a can-do handyman, I relate veeeery much. It’s nice to know the spare-time-usage arguments aren’t only at my house.🙃
And my husband is handy but quirky so things get fixed but in a weird way sometimes 😅 so totally understand need to want to OUTSOURCE, we argue about that too lol
Molly, I love this essay! In our last house, my husband would frequently use the phrase, “It’s a weekend project.” One of these “weekend projects” was our one and only bathroom remodel. And I may have blocked it out of my memory now, but I am pretty sure it took us three months, including a weekend in a hotel. You are not alone!
I love this! Can Jake come to my house?? Signed, Wife of a decidedly NOT handy husband. :)
Not mentioned in this essay are all the fights we have gotten into over the projects he completes for other people so no, sorry 😂😂
Haha, fair enough!
Seriously though 🤣 (love you, Brett, in case you read this)
Loved this Molly! Hard relate. To both the jack-of-all trades husband (with the lengthy projects) and the relational score keeping 😅
We are kindred spirits in so many ways 🥰

aaaalso very glad to know I’m not alone 😅
This was beautiful.
Signed,
The “but your time is really valuable so shouldn’t we just hire someone else to do it?” half of my marriage 😅
lol! You’re obviously not alone there.
Loved this!!

“handy but quirky” lololol
Loved this line
The guy can bake pumpkin pies from scratch with babies strapped to his chest
This feels like a line you would key in on, Reem, and I love knowing that 💛💛
V. relatable, Molly! I'm also married to a handyman. Thankfully, because I cannot fix most things. 😂
I DID figure out how to unclog our vacuum cleaner all by myself this week, and I was VERY PROUD 😂
You deserve a prize for that one. Ugh, gross.
So relatable, this is exactly my husband and I! Loved reading this essay.
Thanks, Cathy!
Thanks for reading!
So good!! DELEGATORS UNITE!

hahahaha yes you get it. We also have many projects that just remain unfinished. The amount of holes in our walls is astonishing 😂
Yes, starting feels fun, not so much the middle…
