I love this Sonya!! I remember the days neither of my kids had a concept of time, it was now or never and I love how beautifully you've captured that in this essay!!
Beautiful! I'm reminded of an experience I had at Trader Joe's last week with my 9.5 year old daughter. There was a couple with a baby at the stage of wanting to 'walk' in the aisle while clinging to her mom's fingers, and the baby and I made eye contact and broke into big goofy grins. When they walked away, I looked at my daughter and said 'That was so sweet, but it kind of made my heart hurt'. Then I had to explain how when you have a kid and see other kids at past life stages, part of you goes back to that time and misses it, but you also really love who your kid is now and it's just a lot to hold. She gave me the 'You're so weird Mom' look. 😄
my husband and i were just looking at photos and videos of the first few months of my son’s life this evening. he’s 2 1/2 now, talking non-stop and every day looking more like a little boy instead of my baby. his little sister is now eight months old, and i’m completely baffled at how quickly this first year of her life is flying by. and still i know, all too quickly, my toddler boy and baby girl will be grown. thank you for this beautiful reminder to both savor these days while i have them, and also to capture these moments and memories while i’m living them. 💕
I mean the days ARE LONG too! ... it's just crazy how they keep going and the kids keep growing up. Yes to capturing them however you can (photos, writing, etc.)! Thanks for reading!

Thanks Hannah! (It's almost sad when they figure these adult concepts out, you know?) Thanks for reading!

it DOES make our heart hurt! but I'll bet you your daughter will remember that when she's in the same situation when she's older!
Immediate fan of Sonya here ✋🏼— for both the thoughts, and in solidarity of incapability of small talk. Also, she’s a nurse. 🫶🏽
you're so sweet. I'm always grateful to have my words read. It means a lot.
Also in the Sonya fan club! ❤️
Beautiful, Sonya!!
Thanks Joy!
